Best-selling author Tena Stetler has a thing for witches and vampires. Her books vibrate with passion and magic, and her well-drawn characters seem as though they can step off the page. Her latest release, Charm Me Again, is out now. I just started reading it and thoroughly enjoying it! Tena knows how to weave a tale.
Oh, um, let’s see. Here’s Tena now for an interview, but she brought a special guest! Read on as she interviews one of her characters:
A tall, muscular man strode into my interview room. “Hi, I’m Daylan Rylie. I was instructed to come here for an interview.”
Yes, yes… I’ve been expecting you. Grab a mug of whatever you want to drink, coffee, hot chocolate, hot apple cider. Cookies are over on the counter then have a seat.
He did as instructed and took a bite of Christmas cookie.
Tell us about the real you— “Not really a topic I’m fond of.” He surveys the surrounding as if looking for an escape. “But here it goes. I was raised in Martha’s Vineyard. Mom and Dad were powerful witches. My sister, Summer and I inherited their power. Summer was the perfect daughter though her talents with witch fire were downright scary growing up. She set the side of the house on fire when she was eight years old. Dad ended up putting it out after I used magic to try to control the garden hose and soaked Mom, Dad, Sis and myself but not the fire. That was the beginning of my reputation as screw-up. Powerful magic wielder, but still trouble followed me where ever I went.
As an adult, Summer torched my vampire girlfriend as she was draining me dry. Yep never had good luck with women and that incident tore our family apart. Because of the guilt, Summer left for parts unknown and I was left with the coven and family fall out. Not complaining, I deserved it.
Recently, a Scottish Highland ghost began haunting me at home and at my forge. I’m a blacksmith and bladesmith by trade. I couldn’t figure out what the ghost wanted only that he was or used to be family. Since my sister is or was the family historian, it was imperative I locate her. After an extended search, I located her. She was none too happy to see me. Delving into our family history had unforeseen consequences and led to the shocking discovery of an ancient curse.” He paused and cleared his throat. “Then there was my sister’s assistant, Josie. She was hot, feisty, and completely off limits. Yeah, well, our attraction sizzled. There was more to her than even she knew. (No spoiler’s here.) She had trouble with a stalker. I was assigned to keep her safe and it all spun out of control from there. Let’s have another question.”
Okay….tell us three things we’d find if we looked under your bed? “Knives, swords and dust bunnies.”
What makes you laugh out loud? “Josie’s ability to attract was much trouble as I can.”
What makes you angry? Mistreatment of people or animals.
What event in your past has left the most indelible impression on you? “Impression, no, changed my life yes. My sister torching my ex-girlfriend, she was a vampire, and meeting Josie. Best thing that ever happened to me”
What do you most value? “Family and truth”
What do you sleep in at night? “Nothing. PJ’s are too confining.”
What is the type of woman you want to spend the rest of your life with? “A confident, feisty woman, who knows what she wants and goes after it.”
What do you consider most important in life? “Family, true friends and the ability to make a living.” He glanced at his watch. “I’ve got a date with Josie for lunch, so I’ve got to go. It was nice meeting you. I hope I given you some insight into myself and CHARM ME AGAIN.”
Just one more question. What is your biggest secret? A mischievous smile spread across his face as he set his empty mug on the table and shoved up from the chair raising one eyebrow and brushing cooking crumbs from his pants. “It wouldn’t be a secret if I told you, now would it? My life as well as Josie’s are chocked full of secrets that were unbeknownst to us. But you’ll have to read the book to find out. Author’s rules. I don’t break those rules. I’ve heard tell, if you piss her off, she’ll put you in a book and kill you off.” He shakes his head vehemently. “No sir, don’t mess with her.”
A little about CHARM ME AGAIN.
Daylan, a warlock, is being haunted, but what the ghost wants is a mystery. His magical powers bring him no closer to an answer—until he encounters Josie, a Yoga instructor.
But when she is kidnapped by an ancient Fae Warrior set on revenge Daylan must rescue her before the rogue claims her as his own. During his quest, his world spirals out of control, and a devastating curse comes to light. Could the ghost hold the answers he needs?
Can he break the age-old curse to save Josie and their future, or will Daylan lose her forever?
A sneak peek between the pages of CHARM ME AGAIN.
Suddenly the wind increased and changed direction bringing a cold chill to the warm day. She tugged her sweater close around her as a thin maroon line formed along the flat bottom of a dark, boiling cloud spreading across the sky. Moments before there’d been only an occasional fluffy white cloud floating in the bright blue sky. Oh, no, not again.
The line slowly drifted to vertical and spread open to reveal a sparkling interior. Four striking creatures, sharp-angled features with fierce expressions on their inhumanly handsome faces appeared. Gleaming swords hung at their sides as they slipped out of the cloud and stepped onto the ground not more than fifty feet from her and Daylan along the tree line of the property. Holy shit. This can’t be happening.
She rubbed her eyes but when she opened them the men were still there. Dressed in heavy boots, jeans, and formfitting leather vests, shimmering silver bands adorned their muscular upper arms. Two of them had thick shoulder length blond hair, the others had jet black hair hanging in waves past their shoulders.
She jumped up and opened her mouth to scream. But Daylan reacted faster clapping his hand over her mouth while still facing the advancing creatures. To her surprise, a soft giggle escaped from her lips. They look like a group of medieval bikers. Their apparent leader, his reddish sable hair hung well beyond his shoulders in waves, paused a few yards in front of them.
The others flanked the leader in a V formation. Her heart beat a tattoo against her chest. The vision taking place in front of her wavered and spun. I will not pass out. I will not faint. I absolutely will not. She pried Daylan’s hand away and sucked in a deep breath then blew it out slowly.
