“Spirited Quest” is coming Feb. 13!

By Julie Howard

I’ve had the best news this week! I just received a release date of Feb. 13 for my new book, “Spirited Quest.” This is a very different book from my Wild Crime series mysteries. While still a mystery, this one comes with a paranormal twist.

I like to call this story “sweet, short and spooky.” At 124 pages, “Spirited Quest” is a novella and will be released as one of the Deerbourne Inn series ebooks my publisher has contracted. The price is oh so sweet, at $2.99.

When I first heard about this series by The Wild Rose Press, I hesitated before submitting a synopsis. What would it mean to work on a series, where other authors were creating stories set in the same fictional town and using an overlapping set of characters? The more I learned about the project, though, the more compelled I felt to join in. There was a ghost roaming the hallways of the Deerbourne Inn, you see, and I just had to write about her. Let’s say she was going to haunt me until I wrote down her story.

Just like one of my characters, Jillian, who writes a hugely popular blog called Spirited Quest, I was drawn to the Deerbourne Inn. Now that I’ve written one paranormal mystery, I have a feeling more may be on the way. For now, though, here’s the blurb for “Spirited Quest”:

Paige Norman believes in a tangible, explainable world. When her ghost-hunting niece comes for a visit, she tries not to scoff. But someone, or something, is stirring up trouble at the Deerbourne Inn and her niece, Jillian, is at the center of the mystery.

Paige is certain the handsome Aussie photographer is behind the unexplained disturbances, and she warns her niece to stay clear. Meanwhile, Jillian gets to know the otherworldly Lady of the Deerbourne, who foretells an encounter with “two men.” Then the pranks turn dangerous. Has her niece attracted a stalker or has she conjured an evil presence? Can the culprit be the man who has captured her heart?
